Chicago Public Schools Partners with New Classrooms to Pilot Personalized Learning

Nationally recognized online learning platform to offer tailored math pathways to students in grades 6-8 in three schools
CHICAGO (September 17, 2025) -New Classrooms Innovation Partners, Inc. (New Classrooms) today announced a new partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to give sixth- through eighth-grade students in three schools access to Teach to One Roadmaps, a personalized math learning platform designed to address foundational learning gaps that are barriers to mastering grade-level material. As part of the pilot, New Classrooms will modify Teach to One Roadmaps to align with Illinois state mathematics standards and supplement Chicago’s district-wide curriculum Skyline–giving teachers a proven tool to help students along their individual pathway to proficiency.
The pilot, which is supported by the Finnegan Family Foundation, is expected to serve up to 400 students at Burnside Scholastic Academy, Harold Washington Elementary School, and Myra Bradwell School of Excellence in the 2025-26 school year, with the potential for future expansion.
“Every student deserves the chance to grow from where they are to where they want to be,” said CPS Chief of Teaching and Learning Nicole Milberg. “This partnership with New Classrooms helps us do just that. We’re eager to explore how platforms like Roadmaps can work alongside Skyline to uphold high expectations—and give students the support they need to rise to them.”
Established in 2011, New Classrooms is a national leader in the movement to design, develop, and implement innovative learning solutions. Its most recent learning solution, Teach to One Roadmaps, supports students in grades 4 through Algebra to achieve proficiency by providing a tailored, assessment-based learning path. Multiple external research studies have found that performance on Roadmaps is highly correlated with performance on state assessments.
“Chicago Public Schools is demonstrating what bold leadership in education can look like,” said New Classrooms CEO Joel Rose. “We’re proud to partner with such forward-thinking educators to bring a personalized, targeted approach to middle school math—one that gives teachers actionable insights and each and every student a personalized path to proficiency.”
In collaboration with New Teacher Center, New Classrooms, CPS leadership, and participating schools will also co-design and deliver a robust suite of professional learning and leadership development supports to ensure high-quality implementation of Roadmaps. This will include collaborative strategic planning, in-person and virtual professional development, and site visits with on-site teacher coaching.
“Effective implementation starts with investing in the educators who bring innovations to life,” said Dr. Tommy Chang, CEO of New Teacher Center. “By coupling Roadmaps with meaningful, sustained professional learning, we are equipping teachers and school leaders with the support they need to deliver on the promise of personalized learning. That support is essential to ensuring every student has a real opportunity to succeed.”
Roadmaps generates individualized pathways for each student consisting of the precise pre-, on-, and post-grade skills they need to learn to achieve proficiency and makes recommendations for the skills each individual student is most ready to learn. Each skill comes with a rich array of supportive resources for both students and teachers, including but not limited to: worked examples, vocabulary, practice problems, and instructional content from different vendors. Finally, rigorous short-form formative assessments (“exit tickets”) – which students can take at any time, in and out of school – are available for each individual math skill to measure student understanding and mastery at the skill level. This helps give teachers real-time data they can use to inform instruction.
